Cancer

According to Vision Gain, a market research firm, the leading four monoclonal antibodies accounted for 34% of the global cancer drug market in 2009. The global cancer drug market is expected to surpass US$75 billion by 2012 per RNCOS, a market research firm. Presently a number of drugs are available for cancer treatment, but while providing some relief, these drugs also can cause serious side effects. Thus, it is anticipated that market growth in the cancer segment will be driven by new products with improved efficacy/side effect profiles. We expect MABp1 to be highly competitive in this market environment.

Current clinical trials in oncology have demonstrated anti-tumor activity in a number of different forms of cancer. Although the numbers are still very small, we have seen particularly encouraging activity in patients treated for different forms of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In performing market analysis for a cancer treatment, we have thus chosen to focus on NSLC, although this may not necessarily be the fastest or first route chosen for approval for a MABp1 cancer therapy.
