XBiotech intends to obtain, maintain and enforce patent protection for its products, formulations, processes, methods and other proprietary technologies, preserve its trade secrets and rights in its unique biological materials, and operate without infringing on the proprietary rights of other parties, both in the United States and in other countries. The Company’s policy is to actively seek to obtain, where appropriate, the strongest intellectual property protection possible for its current product and future product candidates, proprietary information and proprietary technology through a combination of patents and contractual arrangements, both in the U.S. and abroad.

XBiotech has already developed a large international patent portfolio that covers important aspects of its technology and products. To date, the Company has patent portfolio consisting of ten patent families, with 72 patent applications filed. It currently has 15 issued patents, 2 allowed patent applications, and 56 pending patent applications with various countries.
