Clinical Trials
In March 2010, XBiotech made history: in partnership with a world leading research hospital, MD Anderson, we launched the first ever True Human Therapeutic Antibody (CA-18C3).
Besides being the first true human antibody, however, this product candidate is designed to do some other firsts, too: like block the growth of new blood supply (angiogenesis) to tumors while at the same block tumor invasiveness. CA-18C3 might help cancer patients still in other ways—by blocking a substance that can cause muscle and bone breakdown. In advanced stages of cancer, weight loss, muscle and bone breakdown is a significant cause of complications. With our product candidate, we hope to be able to stop or slow down these effects of cancer, bringing better health and quality of life to cancer patients.
We are very proud of our clinical team of leading medical researchers at MD Anderson. We believe they are among the best in the world. XBiotech is very excited to be providing a benefit to their patients.
XBiotech is working feverishly on getting other clinical trials started in the United States and Europe. We are working to launch additional human trials for our true human antibody therapy, which may include treatments for: Type 2 Diabetes, ischemia-reperfusion injury after liver transplantation, restenosis after ballon angioplasty and stenting, and non-infectious uveitis.
